Couple stop warden from giving family parking fine after spotting baby seats in car

A man stepped in to prevent a family getting a parking after spotting baby seats in the car just as the warden was about to issue the ticket.

Helen Frost and her husband Paul had been enjoying the sunshine while walking their dog near Crosby beach on Sunday afternoon.

Unable to access the beach, the couple from Litherland decided to rest up on a park bench nearby.

Helen, 50, told the ECHO: "We were with the dog and tide was right in so we couldn't walk on the beach.

"So we decided to go on the grass and walked through a gap where that car was and sit on a bench.

"I saw the parking attendant walking along and we made the same comments to each other that you do - 'can they not give it a rest on a Sunday?' sort of thing.

"He stopped at the car and they had no ticket on display. He started taking all the photographs and started writing.

"What struck a chord with us we'd just walked past the car to sit on the bench and there were two baby seats in the back.

"I thought if they've got little young children then they really don't want to be getting a big parking fine.

After taking a chance, lorry driver Paul approached the warden to ask if he could prevent the family from receiving a fine if he bought them a ticket.

Helen said: "He was great, he said to Paul - 'go on, if you go and get a ticket for them I won't print it.' He was lovely. "

After posting about their good deed on Facebook, over 500 people liked the post and praised the couple for their thoughtful gesture.

Jacqui Whitelock posted: "Well done Paul Frost, you are so thoughtful x".

Michael JM said: "I saw that today! I wondered what was happening. Good man."

While Nicola Ibison commented: "That is a really lovely gesture. I will remember that and do it for someone else in future. I just wouldn’t have thought of it before now!"

Hundreds of other people commented, acknowledging the couple's random act of kindness.

Helen said the the response they got from people had also helped to lift the spirits of her husband who had been in a car accident last week.

She said: "It's nice for him. He had the worst week last week because the car that he loved was written off when a car went into the back of him - so it's a nice bit of karma as well."
