Couple spotted going to Aldi in Salford... dressed like this

A couple were spotted picking up some last minute shopping decked head to toe in matching bright yellow hazmat suits - complete with military-style gas masks.

Debbie White had popped into Salford Shopping Centre for some last minute essentials around 4.45pm on Wednesday, March 18.

Walking through the quieter than usual precinct, she was shocked to see a couple strolling past dressed head to toe in the yellow protective clothing with the man wearing purple plastic bags to cover his shoes for added defences.

Both of the pair had made sure to wear blue rubber gloves over their hands and topped off the outfit with full gas masks covering their faces, which had long grey pipes running out of the front.

Debbie says she first spotted them both as they were shopping in Heron foods and when they walked past, with one of them holding a pretty full Poundland carrier bag, they headed for Aldi.

Debbie said: "I don't know why they were dressed that way.

"At first I thought they were from the Environment Agency spraying for pesticides but then my thoughts changed to the virus.

"I'm as confused as anyone would be about them.

"Personally, I'm thinking if they were dressed like that due to the coronavirus, why would they be out?

"Would it not be in their best interest to do online shopping?

"They seemed happy for people to take a photo of them and a lot were taking selfies with them.

"I just carried on bemused with my day."
