A popular Nottingham venue has congratulated a couple after they got engaged while visiting on the first week after lockdown.
The engagement happened at The Bodega's new Secret Garden on Thursday, April 15, leading to a "mini standing ovation" in the seating area.
The couple, who have not yet been identified, also saw the proposal met with "a lot of clapping" before they were gifted with a bottle of prosecco from Bodega staff.
Speaking following the proposal, a spokesperson for the venue said staff were "so thrilled" that the couple decided to make the Bodega "such a special place for them".
"The proposal certainly came as a surprise to everyone," they told Nottinghamshire Live.
"The couple said they’d always loved coming to the venue so it was a massive honour.
"We of course sent a bottle of Prosecco over right away to celebrate and were so thrilled that people not only chose our venue to spend one of their first nights in a while, but also now become such a special place for them.
"Whilst everyone was still at their tables, there was lots of clapping and a mini standing ovation, the best we could all do socially distanced.
"Hopefully we’ll be able to welcome them back in a few months for a proper celebration. And maybe even some Bodega Lager at the reception!"
The Bodega shared the image on social media, and asked to press that people do not need to wear masks inside the venue when sat at tables.
It follows comments from Facebook users about mask-wearing in the image.
