Couple's joy after wedding rings are found amid fears they were lost forever at sea

A couple have been left overjoyed after their wedding and engagements rings were recovered after it was feared they were lost forever.

Joanna Musset, who lives in Kilkenny, was left dismayed when she lost her wedding and engagement rings while swimming at Stradbally Cove in Waterford earlier in the week.

During the week her husband David issued a heartfelt plea on KCLR radio to people in the area to help look for the rings.

He said: "She had been in for a swim and as she was walking back, she felt her rings just slip off her fingers.

"There were lots of lovely people on the beach who pitched in and helped.

"There was a nice chap with a metal detector who had a look around and a family with all of their children were digging and swimming about trying to find them, but [initially there was] no sign of them at all unfortunately.

"We've been engaged coming up 10 years and married for a good chunk of that as well so they've been a fixture for a long time.

"You can't really replace them it's not the physical objects it's what they represent."

Thankfully the story had a happy ending as David later revealed that the rings had been found thanks to the help of the metal detector.
