When you're getting married, it's your prerogative to decide how you want your big day to go. But it's best not to set overly strict rules. You want your guests to want to come along after all - or at least most people do.
Social media users aren't convinced one couple have their guests' best interests at heart after glimpsing their 'rude' wedding invite.
The bride and groom listed so many demands and regulations they risk offending guests - and they weren't polite in their delivery, according to Facebook users who got a peek at the invite.
One went so far as to dub the note the 'rudest' invite they've ever seen after sharing it to 'That's it, I'm wedding shaming'.
According to the Sun, the anonymous post read: "Shaming the rudest invitation I've ever seen. Also, she's already sent them out and the wedding is in 2025."
It was accompanied by a photo of the invite which contained the couple's controversial rules.
First up, the pair tackled the event's 'semi-formal' dress code. "We are requesting all guests wear as much white as possible. Absolutely no purple or all black outfits," they stated.
Second, came the matter of whether or not to bring kids along - something that often proves divisive.
Opting for an upfront approach, the pair said: "Get a sitter because honestly, we won't have anything for them to do."
Next, they turned their attention to RSVPs. The couple warned: "We will send out a reminder in April 2025 but if you don't RSVP and still show up, bring a chair and a sandwich."
Last but not least, the hosts laid down the law on their strict no-alcohol rule. "There will be no alcohol provided or allowed at the venue," they instructed.
Shocked, commenters could not believe the wording used to convey the couple's vision.
"Sounds like a blast… not. And I don't even drink lol. Their wording alone is enough to make me say heck no!!" read one unimpressed reply.
Someone else joked: "Don't threaten me with a bad time!!!"
But a different commenter defended the organisers. "Planning a wedding is so stressful, I see nothing wrong.
"People really want to wait until the day before to RSVP. I said the same thing about bring a chair and a sandwich," they wrote.
