Couple recreate brilliant Still Game Clansman pub in garden to see out lockdown in style

A Still Game couple are bringing a ray of sunshine amid lockdown misery.

Tom and Sandra Hogg have “opened” The Clansman pub at the side of their home in the seaside town of Stonehaven.

It’s turning heads of passers-by out for their daily exercise stroll but even Jack and Victor are barred entry.

Retired cattleman Tom, 74, said the Craiglang gang needn’t bother chapping the door while the curfew continues.

For the time being only his wooden See You Jimmy barflies and latest addition, a piper in full highland dress, are allowed in.

Still Game’s Boabby the barman would be slavering at the beer garden which is a tiki bar for lazy sunny afternoons.

Tom, born in Stranraer, does all the woodwork himself and Sandra is his artistic designer.

The couple, who met in Alloway, Ayrshire, celebrated their golden wedding in January.

Tom said: “I finished the piper a week before lockdown started.

“I was going to be making two highland dancers but I haven’t had time.

“After I’d made it my wife came up with the idea of calling the bar The Clansman.

“She’s the artistic one. I get a lot of my ideas from her, the two of us work as a team.

“She picks the materials to dress them and I do all the woodwork.”

Tom added: “If I can put a smile on the faces of people passing and they’re happy with what they see I’m delighted.”
