Couple missing near NSW/Victorian border

Emergency services are searching for a couple missing in a forest near the Murray River. (AAP)

A search is underway for a couple who haven't been seen since setting off on a boat trip along the Murray River two days ago near the NSW-Victorian border.

The man and woman set off down the river in a small boat about noon on Saturday.

They were reported missing about 8.45pm on Sunday, after telling a friend they were lost near Womboota, just north of the border.

A search is underway in the Perricoota State Forest for the couple involving police, SES volunteers and NSW Forestry.
