Couple married for 56 years die hours apart while holding each other's hands

A couple who rarely spent a day apart in their 56-year marriage died within hours of each other while holding hands.

Judy and Will Webb were both in a hospice in Michigan, USA, when they passed away earlier this month.

They spent their final hours together are they both battled health complications, their daughter said.

The pair had first met aged 14 when Will enlisted in the military and Judy would write letters to him. The pair became lifelong friends.

Daughter MaryBeth told The News Herald that in December Judy had a medical procedure which didn't go well. It led to an infection that almost killed her and she was put on a ventilator.

The next day her husband Will, a former printer, collapsed from exhaustion.

MaryBeth added: "When my dad died, my mum wasn’t responsive at all, verbally but you could see her pick up her hand and she was rubbing my dad’s hand like, 'I’ll be there soon'."

She added she was happy they went together as one wouldn't want to live without the other.
