A couple married for 47 years died from coronavirus on the same day within seconds of one another, their family said.
Leslie McWaters, 75, and his wife Patricia, 78, died on November 24 in hospital in Jackson, Michigan.
In an obituary, their family said the couple "did almost everything together, so it should be no surprise they went to be with the Lord together within the very same minute".
Patricia and Leslie married on April 16, 1973 and enjoyed almost five decades of their life at one another's side.
Both were admitted to hospital after catching coronavirus and were sadly unable to fight the disease as their conditions became severe.
Staff told the heartbroken family during their treatment that the outlook was "too close to call".
When they sadly succumbed to the illness, both their official times of death were recorded as exactly the same - 4:23pm on Tuesday.
Daughter Joanna Sisk told NBC: "It's a beautiful thing. Kind of like Romeo and Juliet.
"One wouldn't have wanted to be without the other."
Patricia was a registered nurse at the Foote Allegiance Hospital in Jackson and Leslie McWaters was a veteran of the United States Navy Reserves.
In tribute to the lifelong lovers, their family said Patricia was "definitely the boss" of the home, and died just seconds before her husband - known as LD to loved ones.
They added: "Those of us that know them, know that mom went first said, LD, 'it's time to go'."
"It's tough enough to lose one parent, but this was the worst.
The couple are survived by their two daughters and three grandchildren.
