A couple hailing from Kallachi sustained serious injuries after an autorickshaw they were travelling in fell into a pit dug out as part of the road construction work on the Nadapuram road on Sunday night. R.T. Praveen and his wife, Lalitha, met with the accident while they were coming from Thuneri to Nadapuram. The two were rescued with the support of a group of local residents and admitted to a private hospital. The rescue operators alleged that there were no cautionary boards or proper lighting at the spot which led to the accident.
