Couple 'heartbroken' as thieves steal motorbike while they were on holiday

A couple have been left 'heartbroken' after thieves stole a motorbike from their home while they were on holiday in Skegness.

Nicole Szatkowska, 20, of Gainsford Crescent in Bestwood, says two people can be seen riding her fiancé's stolen motorbike on the road.

She says the incident happened at around 9.20pm on Saturday (November 20) night and the couple found out the day after because they had been away with friends in Skegness.

Nicole's fiancé Max Chambers, 18, who works for Long Eaton Motorcycles, woke up the next morning and said to Nicole his bike was not there.

Nicole thought Max was playing a prank until she saw for herself.

The footage was caught on CCTV from a neighbour on the street.

Miss Szatkowska said: "It's heart-breaking for my fiancé - he's worked so hard to get that bike and put so much effort into getting it, and the fact two people can run off with it and not care makes me question everyone that lives around here, I feel paranoid.

"We've got a really long drive with a shed at the end, so they would have got down there as the bike was outside the shed at the time.

"We've been preparing our garage so we can store the bike in there, so we had to leave it out temporarily, but you can't see it from the main road - maybe they've scouted it out or something like that.

"Even if the bike is damaged, as long as it's fixable, I just want it back for him."

Since then, Max and Nicole found the number plate of the vehicle discarded on a dirt path nearby some time after 6pm on Monday (November 22) evening.

The incident has been reported to Nottinghamshire Police.

Inspector Christine Busuttil, local district commander for the force, said: "We are investigating the theft of a motorcycle from an address in Gainsford Crescent and are currently pursuing a number of lines of enquiry in order to track down the people responsible.

"We understand the very significant impact offences like this can have on victims and would urge anyone who has any relevant information to come forward by calling 101 and quoting incident 396 of November 21."

CCTV from the same house captured footage of two people kicking the wing mirror off Nicole's mother's boyfriend's vehicle.

This incident happened at around 9.40pm on August 21, but has not been reported to the police.
