A couple have been left fuming after "rats" stole an item they've had for years from their front garden.
Margie Sherry, 55, and her husband Michael Sherry, 67, have lived in their home on Oxford Road in Bootle for 35 years, but the last five years have seen them increasingly targeted by thieves.
But the most recent incident has proved to be the last straw for the couple.

Margie told the ECHO: "It's like a little old man, about two foot high, stood up with a shot gun beside him, it's like a jokey statue, with a plaque saying 'never mind the dog, beware of the owner'.
"It's a little old man with a stubby nose. We've had it for years. Anyway, I went out the other day to clean the front garden with all the leaves etc. Then I think 'what's missing from there?'

"My husband then came out and said 'where's my statue gone?' Anyway, I came in and looked on our cameras because we had them installed after someone stole benches from the front and people were always telling me to get more security.
"Now I have an outdoor light and cameras on the front as well as locking my gate. That night though, we went to bed and I forgot to lock the gate.
"Then when we looked, there they were walking up the drive, you can't see the second guy but he was definitely with someone because he looked and said a few words. He blatantly walked up my path, picked it up and walked away. But it's heavy. I'm fuming."
Margie has been left feeling angry, with the people taking the statue not being fazed by the light or camera.
She added: "I feel angry. Little rats come up my path and take my stuff. How are you supposed to feel?"
A Merseyside Police spokesperson told the ECHO: "We were contacted at 10.50am on Tuesday 21 st September to reports a statue had been stolen from the front garden of a house on Oxford Road in Bootle."
