A young man and woman were subjected to a vicious and 'unprovoked' attack by a gang of yobs while walking home in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 24-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were found injured at around 2am in the Linburn Road area of Erskine.
The man suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to the Royal Alexandria Hospital for treatment.
The woman had minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.
The violent youngsters are described as being aged 16 to 17 and were all wearing dark clothing.
They are believed to have made off in the direction of Lamont Farm.
Detective Constable Kate Wason, from Paisley CID, said "Extensive enquiries are ongoing into this unprovoked assault and we are very keen to trace the individuals responsible.
"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the attack who may have seen what happened to get in touch, including any drivers who might have dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation.”
