Couple found bloodied knife near Llanelli children's playground

A couple have spoken of their shock at finding a bloodied kitchen knife on the grass near a Llanelli children's park as they sat down on a bench during an evening walk.

Stu Smith had visited his partner Keira Jenkins at her home in Penyfan when the pair decided to go on a walk along Penyfan Quarry, which they had done routinely for the last two years.

They decided to take a rest and sit down on a park bench, a short distance away from a children's play park.

And they were horrified to discover what was resting on the ground in the grass beneath them.

Around 30 cars had their tyres slashed in one road in just one night

"There was a knife on the floor," Mr Smith said.

"My partner is pregnant and she nearly stood on it. I was quite shocked, there was blood on the knife and it's absolutely disgusting how you can find something like this so near a children's park."

The pair reported the May 6 find to the police, and one of Miss Jenkins's family members placed the knife in a plastic bag ready for the police to collect, in an attempt to avoid it coming into contact with anyone.

Mr Smith added that he had a young son and did not feel comfortable taking him there to play any more

"My boy can't go there now," he said.

"There's a lot of elderly people who go there with their dogs as well and it's not nice for them."

Dyfed-Powys Police have been asked to comment.
