Couple find way to save £800 on clothes at stores including Asos

We all know how expensive some clothing items can be, but one couple many to save hundreds of pounds thanks to a clever hack.

The couple claim they have saved nearly £800 through the simple act of sharing clothes.

Grace, 34, initially borrowed husband Ryan’s clothes instead of buying her own new outfits, to save money.

Now the couple say their unisex winter wardrobe has cost them around £300, as opposed to each of them spending hundreds on their own outfits.

Speaking to lovethesales.com, Grace said: “Boyfriend-fit jeans and baggy jumpers are really in right now, but are super expensive. Instead of buying new clothes I just ended up borrowing my husband’s as they are really cute and a loose fit for me. He got tired of looking for his missing clothes, so after a little digging online we had the awesome idea of buying clothes that we could share.

“Straight away we are cutting our clothing bills in half, and even more when we shop in the sales. I searched online for gender neutral clothing discounts and loads of results popped up. My favourite purchase has to be the ASOS Collusion jeans. They have a great feel to them and are super versatile. My husband wears the jeans to work, whereas I like them for a more casual weekend vibe. With 50% off and only having to buy one pair we saved £37.50!"

Grace’s hunt for unisex clothes allowed her to discover new brands. She continued: “One of the biggest discounts came from a retailer I hadn’t heard of called Brother2brother. I got an impressive 70% off their incredibly smart designer trousers, perfect for both of us to wear for work, all together saving us £400 on buying two new pairs.

“Working from home, we want to be comfortable but also presentable for any last minute virtual meetings. I found a J Lindeberg and a RAEY shirt which were both discounted at 50% off each. It makes sense if you’re living with a partner who’s a similar size and has the same style as you to share clothes. It’s already saved us so much money.”

Stuart McClure, co-founder of lovethesales.com, said: “Demand for unisex clothing has soared in recent months with multiple brands now offering gender-neutral pieces in every collection. It’s a win-win for shoppers and retailers, as brands save money on only producing one line of clothing for both genders, whilst shoppers can expect savings that are made at the manufacturing stage to be passed down to them.

“Grace is a real trailblazer, showing couples across the UK how to drastically cut costs on fashion by sharing a wardrobe with your partner.”
