Couple build incredible DIY mirror wall panel in dining room - costing just £79

A couple has built a stunning DIY mirror wall panel in their dining room - and it only cost them £79.

Amy Bridges, 31, from Telford, Shropshire, created the incredible design by picking up MDF boards for £55 from her local timber yard.

She also purchased paint on the cheap from Wickes for £12, and mirrors from Dunelm, also for £12.

Along with her partner, Matt Byrne, 33, who works at a Post Office, the pair cut the MDF into hexagonal shapes and fixed the pieces together with the mirrors - forming a total of 104 hexagons.

They then filled any gaps with wood filler and sanded the face of the panelling.

To finish it off, Ms Bridges, who works at a swim school, applied a white mist coat of paint to prep the wood and plaster on the wall, before applying two coats of cashmere paint.

The couple wanted to spruce up their living space and decided on a mirror panel after creating mood boards with different designs.

Ms Bridges said: "I have been looking at quirky ideas as I am planning an extension build.

"I created my own mood boards by taking screenshots of images I had seen from the internet and social media.

"The dining room was looking tired and needing a freshen up - I wanted something to stand out but look classy too.

"I made some mood boards and liked a couple of different panelling ideas, so I used them to inspire the design and colour, and addition of mirrors."

It took the couple five weeks to complete the project as they were both working full time.

Mr Bridges uploaded before and after photos of the DIY mirror wall panel on Facebook and users congratulated her on a job well done.

"Absolutely beautiful, although I don't envy your dusting regime lol.”

"A true labour of love. Looks fab," wrote another fan of the DIY job.”
