A couple embroiled in a row about a little girl falling off her bike have said it was her fault.
Earlier this week footage of a six-year-old colliding with a man and a woman as they walked along a country trail went viral.
The child falls off her bike to the floor, prompting her to cry while her father shares terse words with the man and woman.
Joanne Crampton has broken her silence about the incident, which took place as she and husband Ian, 46, were walking along the Blackwell Trail, Notts.
“People have vilified us, it’s been dreadful but it’s been blown out of all proportion," she told Sun Online.
"If anything the little girl was at fault, not us.
“She barged into us. We were out walking our dog and we didn’t hear her ringing her bell.”
Video of the confrontation begins with the girl's father shouting 'excuse me' at the pair in a bid to get his daughter through.
They don't move but she peddles on, crashing into them and falling to the floor.
The child bursts into tears, prompting her father to ask the couple to apologise to her.
Instead of saying sorry, Ian appears to kick the bike before walking away.
Yesterday the police said they were not pursuing the couple in connection with the incident.
Detective Superintendent Kev Broadhead, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We have reviewed the footage and do not believe this was a criminal offence."
The footage has split opinion since it was viewed more than 400,000 times online.
One woman wrote: "The father is totally out of order, should be looking after the child and encouraging her to behave in a respectful and safe manner.
"Put the phone down and teach your child to be a responsible citizen."
Another social media user added: "Regardless of who is right or wrong in this situation, pick the child up and make sure she is alright.
"The man kicking a crying child's bicycle, sad to see."
