July 01--A man and his girlfriend wanted in connection with a killing last month at a Tulsa, Okla., motel have been arrested at the woman's apartment in Chicago, authorities said.
Roderick Whiteside, 25, was arrested at his girlfriend's apartment Tuesday on a murder warrant in connection with the June 9 robbery and killing of Cedrick Gilmer. His girlfriend, Jasmine Coleman, 21, was arrested at her apartment in Chicago early Wednesday on a murder warrant in the same case. The Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force made the arrests, but officials with the U.S. Marshals Service in Chicago and Tulsa were not immediately releasing details.
Gilmer was shot about 1:45 a.m. June 9 at the Studio 6 Motel, 8181 E. 41st St. in Tulsa, and Whiteside was "quickly identified ... as a suspect," with a warrant issued for his arrest June 12, according to an email from Officer Leland Ashley, a Tulsa police spokesman.
Authorities learned Tuesday that Whiteside was at Coleman's home in Chicago, and he was arrested there, police said. A warrant for Coleman's arrest in the case was issued Tuesday, and she was arrested early Wednesday at her apartment, police said.
A third suspect in the killing, Claude Calvin, 23, is still being sought, Ashley said.
Court information for Whiteside and Coleman was not immediately available.
