Couple arrested after film of husband brushing his wife's hair appears on Twitter

A married couple in Kuwait have been arrested after they posting a video of the husband brushing his wife’s hair on social media.

Local media report the pair were arrested in their home after the clip on Twitter was deemed "immoral" and attracted a strong backlash in the conservative Islamic country.

The unnamed husband can be seen brushing his wife’s hair in the video as they joke around and he has his arms around her as she speaks to the camera.

The footage also shows the woman flaunting her rear and making lewd comments in Arabic, according to Gulf News.

Reports state detectives studied the video and identified the couple before arresting them at their home on Tuesday.

It is claimed a source in the Kuwaiti authorities said a suit had been filed against the couple with public prosecutors charging them with “violation of public decency”.

The video is believed to have been deemed "immoral" and that investigators follow social media to prevent content being posted which "contradicts the nature of conservative Kuwaiti society".

Local media says the couple are believed to have released the video with the intention of provoking criticism and lawsuits against them. It is unclear why they decided to do this.

The husband is reportedly a member of Kuwait’s stateless Bidoon minority group -  a social class considered as illegal immigrants in the country.

They can be stateless tribes people, economic migrants or the children of Kuwaiti women who married Bidoon men.

It is not known if the couple remain in custody.
