Couple are looking for a place near Edinburgh to park their 'tiny house'

A couple are looking to rent living space around Edinburgh, but it's not exactly a room they're after.

Gabrielle Blackburn and Dave Bell are searching for a space to park their "tiny eco house" - a small shed-like structure where they hope to live in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

They're looking to rent land to put the house on, and have suggested someone who has a spare garden area they don't use may want to let it out to them.

Measuring 7m long and 2.5m wide, the "tiny house" can be mounted on a road-towable trailer and is currently under construction.

Dave and Gabrielle admit their home is "a little unusual" but say it has all the conveniences they need - and it encourages them not to spend money on wasteful things.

Dave, a sustainability researcher, told Edinburgh Live: "It's an affordable space we've created with our needs in mind.

"We've designed a space we want to live in - it's very low use for water and energy."

An advert they've been sharing on Facebook says: "We are a young couple looking for a place to put our home.

"We are looking to rent a small plot of land where we could live, in or around Edinburgh.

"We are not looking for anything permanent, but would like a place where we could settle for at least a year."

Their loving choice has been influenced by the "tiny house movement", a growing community in the US which advocates living simply in smaller homes.

As well as being environmentally friendly, tiny houses are less of a financial drain on income.
