Couple abandoned holiday after cleaning 'filthy' Pontins chalet

A couple abandoned their holiday after being forced to clean their 'disgusting'

Michelle Davis and her husband stayed at the Brean Sands resort just four months before the resorts' air duct piping collapsed on guests below.

The couple told our sister paper Somerset Live upon arriving at their chalet they had to roll up their sleeves and clean.

Mrs Davis said the shower was dirty, the floor was disgusting and they had to order new duvets and pillows.

To add to their woes, the smoke alarm kept going off in the middle of the night and waking them up.

They have now asked for their money back following their nightmare break.

And things didn't improve outside of their chalet, Mr Davis claims the hot buffet was 'stone cold' and 'totally inedible'.

"Myself and my husband stayed at last October and it was absolutely awful," she said.

"The chalet was filthy.

"I had to wipe every surface with antibacterial wipes, get all the plates, cups and utensils and pour boiling water over them as they were dirty.

"The bathroom had to be cleaned as the taps, bowl, and shower hadn't been cleaned and the floor was disgusting.

"We had to get new duvets and pillows as they were filthy and the bed was so uncomfortable we had extra to put underneath us.

"The smoke alarm is connected to a central source and can only be turned off by the security, ours kept going off at ridiculous times, including the middle of the night.

"The first night we went for the hot buffet, my husband had to ask for our money back as it was stone cold and totally inedible.

"There were people directly across from us who had the door open shouting and playing music in the early hours and despite phoning security nothing was done.

"Some of the staff are very rude and unhelpful. Needless to say, we cut the break short and went home.

"I stayed there years ago and cannot believe the how much everything has declined.

"It is, without doubt, the dirtiest, noisiest, most poorly managed holiday park I have ever experienced, I'm surprised it hasn't been closed down by the environmental health."

Somerset Live approached Pontins for comment.
