County Durham MP goes viral after 'fashion fail' leaves shoulders looking 'enormous'

A County Durham MP went viral on Twitter for a hilarious "fashion fail" during an appearance on BBC News which left her shoulders looking "enormous".

Dehenna Davison, MP for Bishop Auckland, appeared on BBC News on Monday evening but viewers were somewhat distracted by her choice of clothing.

The dark-coloured jacket she was wearing perfectly blended with the black chair she was sitting on causing her shoulders to look rather big in comparison to her head.

Viewers compared the MP to Kanye West's appearance in the music video 'I Love It' while others said they felt like they had been "transported back to the 80s".

One amused person said: "I'm sure it's a chair - but it looks like you're sporting the mother of all shoulder-padded jackets there."

Another said: "Sorry but the way her shoulders blend into the chair to make her head look minuscule has absolutely ended me."

The MP did see the funny side however saying she'll make sure her jacket and chair don't match next time and used the hashtag #FashionFail.

She tweeted: "Note to self, in future, make sure jacket and chair don’t match to avoid looking like this!

"My shoulder pads may look like they’re from the 1980s, but mine and this Government’ s priorities are very much about delivering for today, and for the future."
