County Durham man jailed for brutally attacking his partner and two teenage girls

A man has been jailed for 16 years after he brutally assaulted his partner and two teenage girls at a home in County Durham.

Liam Keith Hall, 33, went to the house on Coleridge Road, Chilton in September and assaulted all three victims once inside in a vicious and violent outburst.

Hall punched his victims repeatedly, causing significant facial injuries before fleeing the scene to avoid officers from Durham Constabulary.

The attack was so violent two of his victims had to go through facial surgery due to the serious nature of their injuries.

Hall was swiftly arrested and charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm and one count of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

Hall, also from Chilton in County Durham, pleaded guilty to the charges and appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday, December 21 for sentencing, where he was jailed for 16 years.

Investigative officer Meggan Rutherford, who led the investigation, said: “This has been a horrific, sustained, and unprovoked attack, whereby the three victims have all sustained life-changing injuries which have required ongoing treatment.

“The defendant is a very dangerous individual and he has not only impacted the victims' lives but also the lives of their friends and family. They were left unrecognisable after the assault.

“Nothing can change what they have been through but hopefully this sentence will give the victims some comfort that he will be behind bars for some considerable length of time.”
