It’s all over here. Michael Hogan came out swinging; fired a six over long on and then miscued another and was caught at backward square leg off a thick edge.
Lancashire win by an innings and 157 and extend their lead at the top of division two by 32 points.
Thanks for your company the last four days, it’s been an entertaining match and everyone who witnessed it was pretty privileged to see the 501 partnership between Petersen and Prince, you don’t get to see something like that very often.
Dabo from North Wales (yes that’s Welsh)
This match is on its last legs. Aaron Lilley, in his first over, made a double breakthrough and seems to be getting more turn than we’ve seen all match. His first victim was Craig Meschede who went right back into his crease trying to play off his pads and missed it. Given there’s no bounce umpire Bodenham didn’t hesitate in raising his finger. Then two balls later Graham Wagg, who’d taken a fancy to Lilley’s bowling in the first innings, tried to play a late cut and was bowled giving Lilley a double wicket maiden and leaving Glamorgan 181/8. We’ve got tandem spin and now it’s Kerrigan who is in on the action as Salter has been given LBW having scored a watchful 34.
Glamorgan have survived the first 40 minutes and Chapple is now out of the attack replaced by Kerrigan. The pitch was just starting to bite by the end of yesterday and his first ball strikes Cooke on the pads although not given; there may have been a hint of inside edge. They’re hanging in there for the moment
The news from Colwyn Bay is that play will start at 1pm with a whopping 75 overs left in the day. If Glamorgan bat all those out to save the draw then fair play to them.
If Lancashire do win, and they should, it will take them 36 points clear of second placed Surrey and all but promoted.
We’ll resume with Glamorgan 146/5 with Chris Cooke (43*) and Andrew Salter (11*) at the crease.
It’s going to need a bit of a push by Lanky to get through this pretty obdurate Glamorgan lower order though.
The news from the middle is that lunch will be taken at 12.15 with an inspection at 12.40. It’s not raining at the moment and the groundsmen, who are all wearing shorts, are mopping up.
In theory it shouldn’t take long to wrap this match up but as the previous update said Glammy’s tail wags a lot.

Still wet here. There were some interesting quotes from Michael Hogan last night talking to the Beeb. He said he was a bit embarrassed to the be the top scorer. The Australian believes the top order are failing to score enough runs.
“We’re shooting ourselves in the foot in the last month or so, it’s something that needs to be addressed,” he said. “It’s happened a bit too much. It’s happened again when we’re five for 140-odd on a pretty decent wicket. It’s a little bit embarrassing to be honest with you, but it’s nice to get a few runs I suppose.”
Which is a polite way of saying the Glamorgan top order are a bit of a shambles in seven out of 10 completed first innings by Glamorgan the second five wickets have produced more runs than the first five wickets.
Ouch
Bore Da from Colwyn Bay Cricket Club where Lancashire need five wickets to claim 24 points from this match.
But I’m afraid it’s raining. Glen Chapple tells us it’s bone dry under the covers so we should get on as soon as it stops but who knows when that will be. North Wales isn’t quite so pretty when it’s wet and miserable.
Elsewhere, Kent, Notts and Warwickshire wrapped up victories yesterday so just the three matches in action today. Yorkshire are in a strong position at sunny Scarborough but Southampton looks like it’s heading for a draw.
Grab yourself a cuppa and if you are can you make me one. Builders with two please. Merci
Morning all,
Lizzy Ammon is going solo today at Colwyn Bay forGlamorgan v Lancashire after Paul Weaver’s match in Sussex reached its conclusion yesterday. Here are their reports from last night:
Glamorgan v Lancashire
Glamorgan face battle on final day against Lancashire
Glamorgan were unable to prevent the follow-on at Colwyn Bay despite some brave resistance from their lower order, the last four of whom scored over 40. They were eventually dismissed for 348 in their first innings, some 200 runs short of the necessary score, and the Lancashire captain, Steven Croft, had little hesitation in asking the home side to bat again, when they reached 146 for five.
