County Antrim Shield dates confirmed ahead of new season

The County Antrim Shield will kick-off the new Irish League season.

It has been confirmed that the first two rounds of the competition will be held before the start of the 2020/21 Danske Bank Premiership.

The league campaign is scheduled to start on Saturday, October 17.

Before that the Shield will take centre stage.

It was confirmed on Monday night that 16 teams will compete for the trophy, which was won by Cliftonville last season.

The first round will take place on Saturday, October 10 with the second stage taking place on Tuesday, October 13.

Dates for the semi-final and final are to be confirmed.

The 16 competing teams will be:

  • ARDS FOOTBALL CLUB
  • BALLYCLARE COMRADES
  • BALLYMENA UNITED
  • BANGOR FC
  • CARRICK RANGERS
  • CLIFTONVILLE FC
  • CRUSADERS FC
  • DUNDELA F C
  • GLENTORAN
  • HARLAND AND WOLFF WELDERS FSC
  • KNOCKBREDA FOOTBALL CLUB
  • LARNE FC
  • LINFIELD
  • NEWINGTON FC
  • PSNI FC
  • QUEEN'S UNIVERSITY
