Countryfile's Anita Rani says lockdown helped her heal after devastating miscarriage

Anita Rani and husband Bhupinder Rehal tragically lost their baby in December 2018 due to a miscarriage.

And the Countryfile host, 42, has bravely opened up on the sad loss and shared how the nationwide lockdown - implemented in late March amid the coronavirus pandemic - allowed her time to reflect and grieve.

The TV presenter told that she struggles to talk about having a miscarriage but added that she believes it is important to break the taboo about the subject.

“It’s difficult to talk about, because it’s bereavement," she told The Sun.

“It’s a loss, and that will never change. But it’s too exhausting not living truthfully and I also thought it was too important not to use my voice."

The journalist addressed that not many people talk about miscarriage despite 'many women going through it.'

She also added that a number of men and woman have reached out to her since she shared the sad news, before sharing:“Lockdown has given me space to be more thoughtful. I will look back at this year as hopefully a moment of rebirth.”

In May Anita spoke to Hello about the support she received after telling that she and her husband lost their baby.

She said: "So many women – and men – got in touch to say: 'We've carried this as a secret, but well done you for bringing it out into the open because it's still taboo and it shouldn't be.'

"It felt cathartic to talk about it, I must say. I don't talk about things that are personal. I'm not someone who constantly shouts about my darkest secrets, so it felt like a real moment when I was opening myself up, and I'm glad I did."

She added: "This is a really important subject to talk about. I've been gifted this amazing platform and a voice, and I feel I should use them for the positive."
