Chart-topping country singer John Michael Montgomery suffered broken ribs and cuts when his tour bus reportedly overturned.
Montgomery is “doing well” following the “serious accident,” which occurred on the way to a concert in North Carolina, he said in a Facebook post.
“Everyone that was on the bus is recovering from their injuries,” Montgomery wrote Saturday.
“I will take some time over the next couple of weeks to heal and be back on the road soon. I am grateful to the medics and highway patrol for their quick response to this difficult situation.”
The incident happened in Jellico, Tennessee, when the bus veered off of Interstate 75 and overturned after hitting an embankment, according to The Tennessean. Two other people on the bus were injured, both from Kentucky.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol didn’t immediately respond to a Daily News request for comment.
The Tennessee-born Montgomery, 57, is known for songs such as “I Can Love You Like That” and “Letters From Home.” He’s released 10 albums since 1992 and had seven singles reach the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s country chart.
His next concert is scheduled for Sept. 24 in Shipshewana, Indiana. A previously announced Sept. 17 show in New Braunfels, Texas, is no longer listed on Montgomery’s website.
