A “UNITY rally” at Glasgow’s Buchanan Street steps protesting against immigration was drowned out by counter protesters.
The demonstration was organised by convicted domestic abuser and anti-immigration podcaster John Watt – but it was met with a largescale counter-protest that sent a message of solidarity with refugees.
Union flags bedecked the anti-immigration side of the rival events, with a banner for the neo-Nazi group Patriotic Alternative also present.
Signs on the opposing side included “refugees welcome”, “stop the far right” and “stop racist Reform UK”.
