Countdown viewers in meltdown as contestants faced with very rude anagram

Fans of Countdown might be familiar with its comedic - and infinitely ruder - spin-off, 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

But the regular show can push the limits too, it seems, after a regular episode's anagram spelled something out that had viewers in stitches.

The players are tasked with unjumbling an anagram to win the game.

This episode's anagram, to the delight of Countdown-watching Twitter, was "SLEAZYNOB."

Leo took the game, edging out Martin as he decoded it as "LAZYBONES."

"How was this the conundrum in regular Countdown & not Cats Does Countdown?!" one Twitter user begged to know.

"Where's Sean and Jon?!" another tweeted, referring to comedians and Cats Does Countdown regulars, Sean Lock and Jon Richardson.

Co-host Rachel Riley's become renowned for her smirks and facial expressions when rude words crop out.

She recently gave cheeky grin to the camera as Shappi Khorsandi suggested "blowie" from the letters provided - which is apparently a type of fly.

Rachel couldn't help but smile, before Nick turned to Suzie Dent in Dictionary Corner and asked: "A blowie, Suzie?"

"Yes, a blow fly," Suzie replied with an impressively straight face.

Another recent episode saw the panel struggling to muffle their laughter as Rachel spelled out "fetish."

Comedian Rory Bremner also flagged the word "screwing", while last year Rachel struggled to suppress a giggle at "orgies."

Other episodes have seen Rachel spell out "phallus", "screwing", "erection", "orgasmed" and "squirter."

Rachel has starred on the show for more than a decade, and to mark the milestone last year shared a compilation of the rudest words she's ever had to spell.

*Countdown airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 2:10pm.
