News of The Hoppings is already sparking excitement among thrill-seekers almost four months before the famous fair's return to Newcastle.
The much-loved fairground will be back from June 19-27, with more than 300 attractions, and a post this Monday on its Facebook page, accompanied by a teaser video, quickly clocked up hundreds of comments.
The video clip reminded people of one of last year's stand-out rides - the Mega Spin - as it launched a countdown to the annual summer treat, saying: "Only 109 days until the start of The Hoppings 2020!"
And, asking followers who they intended to bring along to the fair, it said: "the first friend that appears owes you a trip to the Hoppings and a go on the Mega Spin."
Clearly designed for those with a strong constitution, the ride was shown tilting upside down in the video, with a caption asking "who's got a stomach brave enough to go on the Mega Spin?!"
It sparked lots of interest from fans who quickly challenged their friends, with one asking a tagged pal: "you ready for this one!"
Among the comments to friends' questions were "my stomach is turning watching it"; "absolutely no way" and "never again!" but others appeared unable to resist the lure of some adrenaline-pumping action.
One said "can't wait" and another wrote "one more timeeee!" while one regular added: "Fingers crossed for good weather - and we’ll be there for our annual 'SCREAM'."
The Hoppings , said to be the world's largest travelling fair, is always held during the last full week in June at Newcastle Town Moor.
It says of its long and fun-filled history: "The amusements have changed from steam-driven, ornately-carved and decorated roundabouts to the white-knuckle rides of today but the fair remains a temperance event."
