Countdown's Colin Murray 'secretly splits from Line of Duty composer wife' after 11 years

Colin Murray has split from his wife of 11 years, Carly Paradis, it has been claimed.

The Countdown host, 45, and Line of Duty composer Carly, 45, are said to have quietly ended their relationship late last year and have told friends they are over.

Colin and Carly married in 2012, but are said to have grown apart from one another shortly after Colin joined the Channel 4 show and took over as host from Anne Robinson last year.

Earlier this month, Colin sparked split speculation as he hinted he had parted ways from his wife.

A source has said: "Colin and Carly separated after work pushed them apart.

"Colin got really busy with Countdown and his BBC Radio 5 Live show, while Carly is busy at work as a musician.

"They ultimately took the decision at the end of last year that it was no longer working between them," they told The Sun.

Meanwhile, Colin and Carly are said to have been "open with their friends and family" about the split and are "trying to move on as best they can", the insider added.

Colin recently hinted he was no longer with his wife as he was asked by Radio Times magazine who controlled the TV remote in his house. He said: "It's just me, so me. I'm [the] master of my domain."

The TV star hosts a late night radio show on Monday to Thursday on BBC Radio 5 Live. His show is described as a "late night discussion on the issues that matter to you", which begins at 10pm and is on air for three hours.

Meanwhile, the Irish host was announced as the new Countdown host, taking over from Anne Robinson, in January this year.

The news was shared on Steph's Packed Lunch with presenter Steph McGovern teasing: "Here's a hint. They were once part of a week day double act alongside a famous Scot."

A conundrum was also placed on screen for fans to guess, which read: "MINAORCURLY."

Colin then removed his wig as the announcement was made and said: "I'm an accidental radio presenter, then an accidental TV presenter and a print journalist."

He said of landing the gig on the lunchtime show: "It’s a career dream to be named as permanent anchor of one of television’s most iconic programmes."

Meanwhile, Colin's Canadian wife Carly is best known for composing the music on BBC's hit drama Line Of Duty.

She also wrote the theme song for Sky One's Sick note and ITV's Prime Suspect 1973 as well as the theme for the Innocents on Netflix.

She was nominated for a BAFTA TV Craft Award for best original music for Line Of Duty.

She also joined Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds on tour across Europe. Colin and Carly wed in 2012.
