Countdown cancelled as Channel 4 show taken off air last-minute leaving viewers fuming

Countdown fans have taken to social media to express their dismay after the Channel 4 show was suddenly cancelled.

Viewers tuned in to watch the latest episode - listed as airing from 2.10pm to 3pm on Friday - only to find a substitute programme was on in its place.

Instead of seeing Anne Robinson, Susie Dent and Rachel Riley hosting the words and numbers quiz challenge, they were surprised to find it replaced by Find It, Fix It, Flog It.

On Twitter, a user called Perishing Tardis said: "Cancelling Countdown today is surely going to mess up its entire broadcast schedule up till Christmas...? I don't want to tune in on Monday to find the presenters/contestants talking like it's Friday, but don't dare just not bothering to air today's episode at all."

Wayne Andrews also fumed: "@C4Countdown Why aren't you on at the moment? The TV guide says you're on but it's some Flog It show or something....... #Countdown."

Ryan Love asked: "Uhm where is #Countdown please @Channel4."

Channel 4's website now lists the next Countdown episode as Monday December 6, at 2.10pm, BirminghamLive reports.

The broadcaster has yet to explain the abrupt change to the schedule.
