Count Magic Johnson among those impressed with LeBron and AD’s 1st game

LeBron James and Anthony Davis did not disappoint in their first game together as members of the Los Angeles Lakers. As far as preseason games go, Saturday’s was one of the more exciting ones as Lakers fans got their first real look at their new All-Star duo. Even Magic Johnson got excited.

Anthony Davis had 22 points, 10 rebounds and two assists while LeBron James had 15 points, eight assists and three rebounds in the first half of their preseason opener against the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco. Both players played 18 minutes and the Lakers led the Warriors 59-51 at halftime. The Lakers would eventually win the exhibition game 123-101.

After the display, which involved several dunks by Anthony Davis, former Lakers president and Lakers legend Magic Johnson shared his positive review of the Lakers preseason dominance.

Although Johnson eventually left his job just minutes before the Lakers final game of the season, his vision of a team built around LeBron James and Anthony Davis finally came to pass. While most will wait for them to do it in a real game that matters, the performance of the Lakers two stars has given Lakers Nation, including Magic, something to build a season’s hopes around.
