Administration work. Boring. Sales and marketing, Yawn. It seems teaching is where it is all happening, according to the first boredom index of British graduates.
The Training and Development Agency for Schools today launched the index, which shows that most graduates, regardless of where they are working, are wishing away their business hours.
They are fed up, feel uninspired and can't muster the enthusiasm to work. And that's only after a year or so in the job,
Graduates who chose a career in advertising, journalism or the law are more bored with work than contemporaries who opted for banking or accountancy but even they aren't free from boredom. The only graduates who haven't started counting down to retirement are teachers, according to the index.
Not only are they fulfilled, teaching has emerged as the most likely next career choice for many bored professionals looking to jump ship.
With teachers having to worry about league tables and snap Ofsted inspections, not to mention the politically correct rules preventing them from putting a plaster on a pupil or applying sunscreen- oh and actually teaching too- is it any wonder they aren't bored?
