Count Binface’s first-ever interview resurfaces six years later as he prepares to face Farage

Count Binface first faced a grilling by a journalist ahead of taking on then-prime minister Boris Johnson for the Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency at the 2019 general election.

Now, the satirical alter ego of comedian Jonathan David Harvey is gearing up to face Nigel Farage, who triggered the Clacton by-election in protest against media parliamentary scrutiny of his finances and backers.

In his first-ever interview with a journalist, the self-described “intergalactic space warrior” spoke with The Independent’s Sean O’Grady about his then-manifesto in a video published on Count Binface’s YouTube channel in January 2020.

He discussed a wide array of policies, ranging from banishing Katie Hopkins to the “Phantom Zone” to renaming London Bridge “Phoebe Waller Bridge”.
