PUDUCHERRY: A day after withdrawing the MBBS/BDS admission list citing a pending court case, the medical counselling committee (MCC), Directorate-General of Health Service, has extended round 1 counselling by permitting fresh registration from 8pm on January 28 up to noon on January 30.
The committee extended the payment facility from 8pm on January 28 up to 3pm on January 30, filling of choices from 8pm on January 28 up to 11.55pm on January 30, locking of choices from 4pm on January 30 up to 11.55pm on January 30.
The committee will declare the results on February 1. The committee has fixed reporting for round 1 from February 2 to 7 (up to 5pm).
On Thursday, the MCC had withdrawn the admission list due to a Madras high court order asking it to include the names of eligible candidates in the Jipmer list under the Puducherry domicile category and publish a fresh list by February 4.
Fresh registration, payment facility and choice filling are available to all candidates. "Candidates, who do not want to edit their locked choices need not do anything. Their earlier choices will be valid for seat processing as such for round 1," the MCC said on Friday.
Reset facility will be provided to candidates for round 1 up to 10am of January 30," said the committee. Those who want to edit their choices can log in to their account, give consent for unlocking their choices and fill them again or modify them.
Forty-four candidates from Yanam could not choose MBBS seats in Jipmer under the Puducherry domicile category as the window did not open during round 1 of counselling from January 20 to 25. The candidates filed a petition before the Madras high court..
"...the list of 44 students from Yanam region was forwarded to Jipmer and without considering the letter dated January 24 that was sent by Pondicherry government, the 2nd respondent (MCC) has published the list, which is not sustainable," said Madras high court judge Justice M Dhandapani.
"The 2nd respondent is directed to include the names of the eligible candidates and to publish a fresh list on or before February 4 and proceed with the counselling," the judge said.
