Councillor blasts 'intimidation and harassment' threats in Bluebell as locals shocked by 'unexplained' house death

A councillor has blasted the continued "intimidation and harassment" that Bluebell has had to endure as locals come to terms with yet another tragic incident that has rattled the community.

Shocking news gripped the area yesterday morning when the body of a man was discovered in 'unexplained and suspicious' circumstances at a house on Bluebell Avenue.

Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene yesterday morning over initial reports of a fire in the house.

Upon arrival they discovered the body of a man who is believed to be a 44-year-old from Coolock who has yet to be formally ID'd by Gardai.

Although the death is yet "unexplained", gardai are understood to be treating it as suspicious.

Dublin Live understands that gardai found possible signs of a break in when they arrived at the scene, but are exploring all possible circumstances surrounding the discovery.

Cllr Hazel De Nortuin has said that questions must be raised to understand the recent "escalation of intimidation and harassment to the community of Bluebell for the last while".

She added: "I've continued to question both the council and the Gardai on what exactly is going on in the area that it's continue to rise to this level.

"Community services have been doing trojan work in the area and should be given full support - generally- but particularly in situations like these."

The grim scene was closed off yesterday evening as forensics combed the area after the remains were removed.

A post mortem is expected to take place in the coming days to determine cause of death.

Yesterday, a garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating the unexplained death of a man, believed to be aged in his 40s, that occurred at a house in the Bluebell Avenue area of Dublin 12.

"Gardaí and Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene following reports of a fire at the house on 18/05/2020 at approximately 11:20am.

"The body of the man was discovered at the scene. The body has now been removed for a post mortem, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.

"The scene remains preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau."

"Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this incident to contact Clondalkin Garda Station on 01 666 7600 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
