Council urged to remove embarrassing graffiti from road

People are not happy after x-rated graffiti was daubed across a stretch of one Merseyside road.

Formby councillor Denise Dutton tweeted about the offensive symbol, which appears to have been sprayed onto Lunt Road in Bootle , and is calling for the local authority to remove it.

She wrote: "Could this offensive graffiti on the disused road from Lunt leading to Thornton please be removed within Sefton's 48 hour policy? It's causing great offence to residents and dog walkers!"

The local authority aims to remove graffiti of a racial or obscene nature from council property within 48 hours. (All other non-offensive graffiti will be removed from council property within 72 days)

A spokesman for Sefton Council said: "We can confirm that we have been made aware of graffiti on Lunt Road, Sefton.

"As with all graffiti of a racial or obscene nature, we aim to have it removed within 48 hours of it being reported to us.

"For more information about graffiti removal or to report graffiti in your area, please visit sefton.gov.uk/streetmaintenance "
