Council to develop master plan for Morisset Showground

Lake Macquarie City Council is calling for community input to guide the development of a master plan for Morisset Showground.

The council, which became manager of the Crown Reserve last year, is drafting the master plan and a plan of management to guide the site's use and development.

"The Morisset showground has been a much-loved facility since 1936," manager assets management Brandan Callander said.

"Input we receive will enhance the Showground's features and inform new ways it can be used and enjoyed by the community."

Feedback can be provided online at shape.lakemac.com.au until November 2. Drop-in consultation sessions will also be held at the showground on October 14 between 4-7pm, October 15 between 10am and 12pm and at Morisset Library on October 15 between 7-9am.

Lake Macquarie mayor Kay Fraser said consultation was essential to inform the plans.

"This is a great opportunity to hear from the community and to build on the site's strengths including its history, location and unique role as the only showground in Lake Macquarie," she said.
