Sefton Council have introduced extra measures in an attempt to prevent Travellers setting up at the sight of former schools Bootle High School and St. Ambrose Barlow High School.
The council have revealed they are bringing in the deterrents to prevent Travellers gaining access after groups set up on both sites recently.
The deterrents have come in the form of temporary concrete blocks being placed in front of the gates of both sites, with these expected to stay for three weeks before permanent security bollards are installed.

This has come after an increase in Travellers setting up camp on council owned land. Recently groups have set up on both former school sites just off the Thornton Bypass, on Deansgate field in Formby and Botanic Gardens car park in Southport.
A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: "We can confirm Travellers recently gained access to the former Bootle High School and St Ambrose Barlow High School sites, leaving behind considerable amounts of waste which was removed at a cost by our teams.
"To prevent further incidents occurring we have installed temporary concrete barriers to act as a deterrent.
"These temporary measures are expected to last approximately three weeks, before being replaced with more permanent adjustable security bollards."
