Council's customer service staff are praised

Staff at West Lothian Council’s  Customer Service Centre have continued providing round the clock contact with the public throughout the frightening early weeks of the pandemic outbreak.

Now, as the lockdown eases they continue to be the voice of the council, advising and helping often the most vulnerable in the county.

A West Lothian Council spokesman said: “Our customer contact centre and Careline services have been working throughout the lockdown period. The staff have been heavily engaged in the Covid-19 Campaigns with shielding, covid enquiries amongst others as well as taking emergency calls on behalf of council services. We have maintained a 24/7 service for Careline throughout the period.”

The spokesman added: “The CSC advisers have approached the situation in a positive, flexible and professional manner and continued to provide a high level of service in difficult circumstances. There has been a need to work from home for some of the advisers and again this has been undertaken in a proficient manner.”

Councillor Lawrence Fitzpatrick, leader of the council, paid tribute to the “tremendous” work of the CSC staff:  “Our staff are dealing with important  issues 24/7, and particularly  health related issues at night. Our customer services  are a top priority for the council particularly during this lockdown helping  the people who need us. They have done a tremendous job.”
