Council replaces Ticketek system at Civic Theatre

CIVIC STAGE: Students in this year's Catholic schools Aspire production.

City of Newcastle is moving to take ownership of customer data at the Civic Theatre by ending its deal with Ticketek.

The council has called for tenders to replace the online ticketing system supplied by Ticketek at the Civic Theatre box office with a new cloud-based system.

"The key elements that the Civic Theatre wishes to change are ownership, management and use of the Customer data and direct access by Civic Theatre ticketing staff to the ticketing software to ensure it is optimally configured for CN's needs," the tender document says.

The box office sells more than 120,000 tickets a year to about 230 live performances at the Civic's main auditorium, 200-seat Playhouse and City Hall's Concert Hall.

In 2018, local hirers presented 41 shows comprising 109 performances at the venues and touring producers presented 45 productions totalling 56 performances.

Customer data is a valuable commodity in the business world, helping organisations make decisions based on customer behaviour.
