The Council of Saudi Chambers discussed in Riyadh Thursday ways to create job opportunities for women and raise their participation rate from 20 percent up to 30 percent in accordance with the Saudi Vision 2030, given that women have gained experience in various fields.

It is estimated that women's bank deposits amounted to USD32 billion.

The meeting held by the Coordinating Council for Women's Affairs at the Council of Saudi Chambers during its sixth meeting discussed issues related to women's work and efforts to overcome related challenges. It also showcased developments in the initiatives launched by the Council to create employment opportunities for women and increase their participation from 20 to 30 percent.

Shuaa Al-Duhailan, who chaired the meeting, said that the coming period will witness the accomplishment of the set goals, namely supporting all topics related to women's issues and work in general, thus contributing to activating their role in the field of economic development.

For his part, the Assistant Secretary-General for Council of Saudi Chambers, Hamoud Al-Rubai, reviewed the development plan for the work of the Coordinating Council for Women's Affairs, focusing on linking the plan to the Cabinet Resolution No. 120 with the Saudi Vision 2030.

Head of Al Shorouk Center for Economic Studies in Jizan Dr. Abdul Rahman told Asharq Al-Awsat that "Saudi women are an essential element in the work environment and contribute to supporting the economy through their trade and investment activities."

Baashen stressed that Saudi women are "strong competitors for men in the field of finance and business, and have the capabilities to increase their participation from 20 to 30 percent."
