An online public council meeting ended in chaos after it was hijacked by people who logged on with porn names and played sex noises.
The virtual conference took place on Wednesday, April 8, with the public able to watch proceedings using video software.
South Somerset Council had convened to discuss planning in the local area - but were quickly interrupted.
Several people joined the meeting using suggestive pseudonyms such as 'Mike Coxlong' and 'Ben Dover'.
Audio from a pornographic film could also be heard.
The "trolls" had their microphones muted en masse before eventually being booted out of the Zoom call.
The council had moved its discussions online to allow proceedings to continue during the COVID-19 pandemic.
South Somerset Council said it would "learn" from the incident in a statement sent to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
It said: "Unfortunately, the meeting was initially disrupted by a small number online trolls who used homophobic, misogynistic and appalling language which will not be tolerated.
"We were, however, able to conduct a successful meeting with a number of members of the public able to participate and contribute.
"We will learn from this process and quickly review how the public can access and be part of future meetings."
The council's full title is South Somerset District Council. It was the first virtual planning meeting it had held.
People on Twitter made comments about the prank.
One said: ''It’s a few years since I was at Planning regularly, but there was an awful lot of erections being discussed even then.''
Another tweeted: ''Somerset council planning meeting interrupted by pornography noises.... can only imagine this raised more than just the odd eyebrow.''
