Council leader pays tribute to SNP campaigners after election defeat

Council leader Jonathan McColl paid tribute to the SNP's local campaign team, following tonight's election results.

Councillor McColl, who took the time to speak to the Lennox after the result, said: "I am absolutely gutted. It was a really good campaign and Toni worked his socks off.

"From the moment we were able to chap doors Toni had folk out for three sessions every day. Right up until the election.

"I don't think there's anything else we could've done as a campaign team.

"We are incredibly proud of the campaign we ran. Just unfortunately we weren't successful."

Labour's Jackie Baillie, who had won by just 109 votes in 2016, increased her majority to 1483 after the victory, with the Conservatives' Maurice Corry a distant third on 3205.
