The council has defended its stock of 3G astroturfs following allegations exposure to toxins in the pitches could cause cancer.
Ex- NHS chief Nigel Maguire has been raising awareness about the potential dangers of the artificial pitches ever since his football-mad son's death in 2013.
Lewis Maguire, who was on a trial for Leeds United, had been playing on synthetic pitches almost three times a week before he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.
After carrying out research, Nigel discovered a worrying trend between footballers - goalkeepers in particular - being struck down with cancer.
3G astroturf contain a number of chemicals including mercury, lead, benzene and arsenic.

Benzene is classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as a Group 1 human carcinogen.
The surface is made from shredded car tyres and contains more than 100 times the legal limit of toxins for consumers good sold in the UK.
Nigel Maguire said: "I'm not saying for sure he died because of this. At the moment no one knows for sure.
"In the absence of answers, we need to have more research and take precautions."
A Bristol City Council spokesperson confirmed there are 20, 3G astroturf pitches in the area.
He said: “We work closely with Public Health England which will update us if there is any new advice, and currently work to the information agreed by multiple sporting bodies and government departments, including the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) .’’
