Council issues update on travellers pitched up in residential street in West Bridgford

Travellers remain in a residential street in West Bridgford, the local authority says.

Nottinghamshire Police stepped up patrols in the area in a bid to engage with local residents and the travellers after they arrived in Collington Way on June 30.

Rushcliffe Borough Council says it is today (July 1) in talks with the travellers to find a way to safely clear the site.

A council spokesman said: “We are in communication and working with the group currently located on Collington Way in West Bridgford.

“We continue to assess all options so the site can be safely cleared as soon as possible.”

The second encampment in Collington Way comes shortly after a group moved off Greythorn Drive, police said.

Rushcliffe Police said in a statement: "It has been reported that there is another encampment on Collington Way, West Bridgford.

"We will be patrolling in the area, engaging with the travellers, local residents and also Rushcliffe Borough Council."
