Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has issued a warning to bathers after giant jellyfish were spotted on a south Dublin beach.
Warning signs have been erected on Sandycove beach after lion's mane jellyfish were spotted here and further into the bay this afternoon.
Lion's mane are the largest known species of jellyfish and can deliver a sting even when washed up on water.
Symptoms if stung include nausea, vomiting or respiratory distress.

A council spokesman said: "Whilst bathing has not been prohibited, swimmers are advised to be proceed with caution.
"As an added precaution the life guard warning flags are on red and will remain in place till further notice.
"dlr Life Guards are actively keeping a vigilant eye on the water and bathers."
