Council issue update over bin delays in Sefton

Sefton Council has issued an update on the bin collection delays that have affected the borough.

Disruptions have led to some households not having their rubbish removed for over a month. A spokesperson for Sefton Council said that the delays are the result of a "combination of operational issues, high sickness levels and low staff resource on successive Bank Holidays."

The delays have caused anger across Sefton with many residents voicing their anger over the issue. One mum told the ECHO in May: "It's ridiculous! There's more green waste than ever at this time of year and bins are overflowing."

The Council has now provided information on when the next round of collections will take place for brown bins. A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: "We would like to make residents aware that collections for outstanding brown bins that were due to take place on 9 and 10 June will take place on Saturday and Sunday this weekend in the following areas:

Molyneux Ward

Derby Ward

Netherton & Orrell Ward

Church and Ford Wards

Manor Ward

“Please leave your brown bin out for collection. We are also continuing to work through the backlog of green bins and ask residents to please leave their bins out for collection.

“We understand the frustration caused by recent delays and we assure residents that we are deploying extra resource to address the backlog and progress is being made”
