Council House vista emerges as demolition work continues on Broadmarsh

The top of Council House can be seen behind Broadmarsh from Collin Street as the demolition of the building continues.

The image shows a crane getting to work in clearing debris as a result of the demolition.

Nottingham City Council still needs to find some of the £6m needed to continue work on the shopping centre site.

It was announced last year that the wider demolition of the dilapidated Broadmarsh Shopping Centre had been delayed after the city council missed out on £20m in funding.

While the authority was successful in securing £18m to improve roads and pavements and install LED street lights and electric charging points, it also failed to secure cash for the Island Quarter development off London Road.

It is hoped an ambitious vision from a world-renowned designer will help secure funding for the demolition and regeneration of the Broadmarsh Centre - but bids can only now be submitted from the spring of this year.
